3 Easy Ways to Get Back Together, When the Kids Go Back to School

Romantic Blessings

Summer is the most popular time of the year when families take vacations to enjoy each other outside of their homes. As we near the end of summer and start getting ready to send our kids back to school, it offers an opportunity to reflect on your Christian marriage. Having your kids around all the time during the summer is a blessing, but it can be stressful and chaotic at times. Reconnecting with your spouse is important to maintain the strong bond you have and ensure it continues getting stronger. Here are a few ways to do it.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Phillippians 4:8

1. Strengthen Your Communication

When your kids are always around, the communication seems to focus on them more often. Take some time to sit down with your spouse and talk about anything that comes to mind. Reflect together on how the summer went with your kids remembering all of the great memories you made together and if there were any parts that could be done differently in the future.

2. Set New Goals And Commitments

Back-to-school time is a natural time to set new goals with your kids, so you should do the same with your spouse. Ask them how you can be a better husband or wife and listen to their response closely. The goals and commitments you set together can be something you both live by and can make you closer to one another every day.

3. Go Out Of Your Way To Praise Your Spouse

Most Christian couples don’t praise each other enough. We get caught up in the daily grind of our jobs, taking care of kids, and other responsibilities around the home that we don’t thank them enough for the little things they do. Never take anything for granted and sometimes all it takes is a little appreciation for your spouse to remember that you care.

Although I don’t typically focus on religious considerations on The Intimate Marriage Podcast, I was thrilled to have a wonderful conversation with devoted, church-going Christians Teresa and Blair Bass. They set out to make a change in the way their fellow Christians view sex and intimacy by opening a Christian sex toy shop where you can purchase sex toys and other supplies, receive instruction and respectful encouragement. Now this is the place where Christians get their sex toys.
